Overcoming the enemy named E

Hi! how are you today? I know you might be wondering what the enemy named E could be. Don’t worry, I won’t let you rack your brain too much, so I will just go ahead and tell you how I came about this so called enemy. Now fasten your seat belt and read on as i bore you with my story. LOL!

Ok so I have a friend that persuaded me to start a blogging, immediately i started giving excuses for why I don’t want to blog. He kept persuading me and i still gave the same excuses, at a point i told I’ve heard but i never made any move. The truth is that even before this friend of mine mentioned about blogging to me, I’ve always wanted an outlet where I could share my thoughts and stuff since I have this flare for writing, but i never attempted to give it a try.

After a while i started giving it a thought, but then i push the thought away. it was like i was going back and forth trying to fight my excuses. Until I read an article titled “An enemy called E”. Reading this article made me feel like the author was talking to me in person (you know that feeling you get when you you read or hear something that has to do with that habit  of yours that needs to stop).

The author said and I quote: ” I believe it is absolutely safe to say that excuses are the greatest hindrances to achievable goals. Most people give excuses for almost everything they’re supposed to do but do not want to do or do not feel like doing”. These words penetrated into my system, I felt bad for neglecting my passion. Then I told myself, you know what i’m gonna go ahead and start this blog joor! enough of the “excuses”. Right there and then i made a decision to overcome the enemy named E!

Here are other tips to overcome making excuses:

  • Focus on Solutions and Opportunities

When making excuses we often focus on problems, regrets and on things that just didn’t work. Therefore to eradicate excuses from our lives we must instead begin focusing on solutions, opportunities and on the things that did work. It’s a simple shift, but if we keep this principle at the forefront of our mind when making excuses, it will immediately transform our perspective of the situation at hand.

  • Focus on Your Strengths

When making excuses we often focus on how inadequate and incapable we are. This limits our focus and brings to light all of our weaknesses. To counter this we should instead focus on our strengths and how we can use them to make the best of every situation.

  • Cultivate Four Critical Qualities

To overcome your excuses always cultivate patience, optimism, confidence and persistence. And             if you must make excuses, then at least keep them private. Nobody likes people who can’t take                 responsibility for their decisions and actions.

  • Accept Full Responsibility for Failures and Mistakes

Excuses are often made because we simply don’t want to take responsibility for our shortcomings.

When we take full responsibility for all failures and mistakes we begin to gain confidence in ourselves and our own abilities. Moreover, we begin to feel empowered because life is no longer built upon luck or good fortune, but rather on our ability to successfully adapt to the changing conditions that life throws our way.

“Believe in yourself, and the rest will fall into place. Have faith in your own abilities, work hard, and there is nothing you cannot accomplish.” ~Brad Henry

Thanks for taking your time out to read this. I’m totally open to constructive criticisms only 😉 so please do leave you comments, and share if you think it’s worth it.
